Preventing ASCVD:
Never Too Early, Never Too Late

Thomas Barringer III, MD
Medical Director, Novant Heart & Vascular Institute – Prevention Clinic

Headshot of Dr. Thomas Berringer III

Join us at Charlotte City Club! Hosted by Alo and Dr. Craig J. White, lead physician and founder of Davidson Family Medicine, this 1-hour credit CME and dinner event is free for Charlotte-area physicians.

About the lecture:
Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) remains the most common cause of death, but ironically is one of the most preventable of all diseases. Atherosclerosis can be identified by simple inexpensive methods many years before a serious clinical event occurs. It can also be modified and stabilized early enough to greatly reduce the risk of a harmful outcome. Clinicians can contribute immensely to extending the health span (or quality life years) of their patients by utilizing the knowledge and tools we will be discussing during this presentation.

About the presenter:
Dr. Barringer has been the Medical Director for the Novant Heart & Vascular Institute – Prevention Clinic since 2009. He is an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at the UNC School of Medicine. He has co-authored over 20 publications and has been an investigator in numerous clinical trials related to cardiovascular disease prevention. He is a past president of the Southeast Lipid Association, which is part of the National Lipid Association, and an active member of the American Society of Preventive Cardiology.
